My thoughts as our family battles anorexia with our 11-year old son.

N is restricting a bit today. He played with a friend this morning. When we suggested that he call his new friend from school, he said that he felt too self conscious. He has skipped both of his snacks today.
We try to make up for those calories later -- even the next day if it is possible.
Yesterday was partially my fault. Our routines are off, my husband is home, and I'm generally not doing a very good job of insisting and monitoring. I discovered he hadn't had those snacks late at night. I took for granted that others had monitored the snacks, but I shouldn't have (I'm usually the one that monitors -- and everyone assumed I was doing it).
Our 11-year old son dropped 20 pounds in just two months. That was the beginning of an unexpected, difficult and emotional journey for our family. At the four month mark he stopped losing weight -- but continues his obsession with food and body image.
If you are the parent or care-giver of a child with anorexia, I'd be happy to answer any questions. You can contact me at nourishingmyson (at) gmail (dot) com.

What do you do when he doesn't eat?
